Newport, Rhode Island is a picturesque beach town that has something for everyone. We arrived on Friday for a friend’s wedding that was held on Goat Island with a brunch this next morning. Afterwards we walked and explored Newports marinas, shops, and historic parks. If you are planning to go to Newport (and you should) here are some tips:
1. Plan ahead or stay in an Airbnb. It’s an expensive little town and hotels and places to stay book quickly and go for top dollar.
2. You don’t need a car. Depending on what you plan on doing- the downtown area is bustling with restaurants and shops that are all walkable. If you are feeling a little more adventurous you could rent a bike to get around as well and for anything that is farther there’s always Uber.
3. Go sailing. David has really gotten into sailing in the past 2 years and I am all for it. It’s a hobby he took up just before we started dating and something I grew up doing in the summer. At Sail Newport you can rent either a 19 or 22 ft sail boat and take it out yourself for a few hours or the whole day. If relaxing and learning on a larger charter is more your speed than I suggest Sight Sailing of Newport which is super affordable and they serve drinks (you’re welcome).
4. Visit the Mansions. The Newport Mansions are a popular tourist stop and they don’t disappoint.Walking through each one really takes you back in time and makes you feel like you’re traveling back in time (for the creative and young at heart) or at the very least on set of a movie.
Grace is seriously one of the happiest babies ever. David and I do fight over who gets to hold her sometimes because she is so enamored with the world around her. What I mean is Grace is constantly taking in the world around her, people, buildings, lights, and dogs! She loves DOGS! This photo of her over Davids shoulder is the perfect example that if I wasn’t there with the camera she would be making eyes with a stranger who undoubtedly would be egging her on.

After a full day of walking, eating, window shopping and taking in the ocean breeze we fell in love with this little New England town and can’t wait be back to visit next year.
Below is a photo blooper of me trying to get Grace to look at the camera- it’s not easy being a baby model 😉
